How to use WHOIS

The current rules for ltd and plc seem much simpler and clearer.

Any characters that are not allowed are removed and all companies can have names provided they are not too short or in a character set that can not be used for domain names.

The only change we would wish to see to the current rules is the restriction on one name per company.

Companies should be allowed to register all possible variants

e.g the xxyy company ltd should be allowed.

thexxyycompany.ltd.uk
the-xxyy-company.ltd.uk
the-xxyycompany.ltd.uk
thexxyy-company.ltd.uk
xxyy-company.ltd.uk
xxyycompany.ltd.uk
the-xxyy.ltd.uk
thexxyy.ltd.uk
xxyy.ltd.uk

Since these are all the same as far as Companies House is concerned and may assist the company in its search engine submission and linking in with other domain names it may have registered in .co.uk .com etc.
