A Domain Name registration is valid for two years. In most cases, ISPs will let their customers know that their Domain Name is due for renewal and most Domain Name holders choose to renew their registration and pay for another two-year registration period. Domain Name holders may also choose to surrender their Domain Name before the end of the two-year registration period because they no longer require it, or to transfer it to another user. With increasing competition among ISPs, Internet users can also opt to change to a different service provider, taking their Domain Name with them. In all cases, in order to protect the contractual rights of Domain Name holders, any changes that are made must be carried out in compliance with Nominet's Terms and Conditions for Domain Name Registration. |
