Through an Internet Service Provider

You are encouraged to register a Domain Name through an Internet Service Provider (ISP) who will act as your agent and submit a Domain Name application to Nominet - or another international Registry - on your behalf.

The majority of ISPs are members of Nominet UK. Although Nominet cannot recommend one specific ISP over another, it does provide useful advice on Choosing an ISP, as will reference to magazines about the Internet.

Direct with Nominet

It is possible to register a Domain Name direct with Nominet, but this requires specialist technical knowledge and equipment. In order to be eligible to register direct you must provide the Internet Protocol addresses of two name servers that are permanently connected to the Internet.
