  Nick Lockett Nick Lockett originally qualified as a biologist but trained in the finance industry where he specialised in investment through bio-tech, environmental and computer/IT issues. He decided to re-qualify in law to specialise in these issues. Nick then qualified as a barrister and, having practiced in England & Wales until 1998 as a barrister, transferred to be a solicitor so that he could provide a more direct service to his e-commerce and e-communications clients.

Relevant Experience:

Defence counsel in the first internet domain name case to be heard in the UK and has been involved in many leading internet cases since then, not just domain cases. Has acted in 16 domain cases to date (including harrods.com and fcuk.com). His practice encompasses both Plaintiffs (Claimants) and Defendants on a day to day basis and is entirely e-commerce and e-communication based. Founder of the lawyers.co.uk network.

He has sat on various UK government internet advisory panels and is currently advisor to various governments internationally on e-commerce, e-communication and e-crime (including the European Community), mediation and arbitration. Reviewer of legislation and government funded projects. He is also dealing with European Commission on various computer and internet technology cases involving competition and e-commerce compliance issues. Part of the eutaskforce drafting registry concepts for the .eu domain name.

Advisor to many e-commerce companies and venture capitalists concerning all aspects of E-Commerce, cyberinsurance, on-line intellectual Property protection and infringement, Internet electronic payment mechanisms etc. Has been providing online commentary on e-law at the netlaw.co.uk site since 1991 and has been a regular speaker internationally at conferences on Internet, E-Commerce and IT law.
