Richard Kemp is an IT and e-commerce lawyer specialising in international and national operational and transactional work for computer, information and communications company clients.
Richard works extensively with suppliers in the computer software, services, equipment & telecoms fields; with online services and content providers in the e-commerce & digital media fields; and with IT acquirers on IT systems integration, outsourcing, development projects and procurement projects. Richard qualified as a solicitor with Clifford-Turner in 1980. He graduated in 1977 from Cambridge University with a BA in law and from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles in 1978 with a licence special en droit europeen (grande distinction). Richard founded the company commercial group at Hopkins & Wood (1984) and the London office of Hammond Suddards (1992) and was the first European IP/IT head of the Arthur Andersen legal network (1995). In 1996, he was listed as the only IT lawyer in the Legal Business survey '40 Under 40'. He established Kemp & Co in 1997 and with Jonathon Little was a founder member of Kemp Little LLP in July 2001. Richard headed the list of individual digital media and e-commerce lawyers in the UK in "the Digital Dozen", a survey published in October 1999 by New City Media in their Insider's Guide to Digital Media and E-Commerce; he was again in the first rank of leading individual IT lawyers in Chambers Directory (October 1999 Richard is a member of the Board of Directors of the Computer Law Association, Inc. |
