Wragge & Co: one of the leading IP/IT practices in the UK
- I specialise in contentious intellectual property matters and in particular domain name disputes, trade marks, copyright, designs, passing off, confidential information, e-commerce regulations. I have considerable interim injunctive and trial experience. I advise a wide and diverse range of clients including those in the following sectors: international retail, pharmaceutical, aerospace, ISP's, transportation, emerging technologies, web designers, technology clients, utilities, financial services and manufacturing.
- I am an associate member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, Wragge & Co's representative at the International Association of Trade Mark Agents and the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group.
- Whilst in practice, I obtained the Bristol University Diploma in intellectual property and taught on this course for several years.
- I have assisted in the management of Wragge & Co's domain name resolution service since July 2000. This has involved supervising and evaluating Complaints submitted on behalf of the firm's clients for decisions under the Uniform Domain Name Resolution Policy (UDRP) as well as advising Respondents in relation to bad faith claims.
- I have filed several Complaints under the UDRP at WIPO: see case numbers D2000-1516 (britannic.org, britannic.net and britannic.com) and D2001- 0858 (christiansalvesen.net).
- I have lectured extensively on domain name disputes including the Central Law Training conference "Trade marks and the internet" (June 2001), Wragge & Co's Annual IP Seminar "UDRP" (June 2001) and the Local Government Conference on IT "Domain Names- Acquisition and Protection" (December 2001).
- I have been involved with several leading reported intellectual property disputes including Glaxo Welcome and others -v- Swingward & Others (FSR 2000), a leading European case on parallel imports; and Sun Valley Foods -v- Vincent & Others (FSR 2000), a dispute concerning copyright infringement and confidential information. I have also been involved with some very substantial commercial cases including "Maxwell" related litigation.
- I have had articles published in various publications including the World Intellectual Property Review and Managing Intellectual Property.
